    Good rant.
    I think you are now ready to take the issue of tiny tree lights to the
next level.
    The dang things are so cheap, just buy a few extra boxes.  At the first
hint of failure, heave the old string in the bin, and open up a new one.
    Try it, you'll like it.

that the light string tested and working will cease working when put on the
tree? And who ever conceptualized the idea of 250 miniature lights, any of
which may at any time decide to cease operations forthwith, and then connect
