The DMV should have a VIN / year chart, perhaps a e mail with the first few
characters would do.
Ask your insurance company, they might be able to reference the year.
Above all, make sure the effort is worth the possible exposure to " Since
the year and VIN don't match, prove the car is not stolen" from the DMV.
Got a copy of a old title or registration card with the proper year? A
titling error form might do the trick.
