Hi list
Being one to have a mechanical pump fail in the boonies, I'll never trust
one again. Besides I really like hearing an electric pump bringing the
fuel up to the carbs before starting, very reassuring. I've not installed
my new SU pump yet but since its for an AH with pos grd running SU carbs
there should be no problems. My mechanic who has a 59 tr3a suggested
wiring it directly to a fuse that becomes hot when ignition turned on. I
took old mech pump to a welding shop & had a blanking plate cut and
drilled from 1/4" steel plate so can use gasket for stock pump and
definitely won't warp. Frees up just a bit of room under bonnet too. I'll
mount elec pump in same place as AH on the upstand under rear seat. Makes
for easy access for desludging the diaphram chamber as sand inevitabaly
gets into gas tank if you live anywhere near beach or desert. Will sure
keep SU carbs in juice and should do for my pair of 45DCOEs.
