I don't know, but I have had similar experiences with my TR6 PI - the faster
I go, the cooler it runs. I have a feeling it's related to the increased air
flow through the radiator and engine bay in general. I recall driving to a
friend's house in the country at around the 70mph (~110km/h) mark and it ran
noticeably cooler than just putting about through the city at 37mph
(~60km/h). This is also remarkable given that the ambient temperature was
over 30 degrees Celcius (86F?) at the time so it wasn't a particularly cool
day...

Well, the only change I had made to my cooling system was that I had a TR6
radiator rebuilt with the original top and bottom tanks, and a heavy duty
core (the radiator in it by the PO was from another Australian car, possibly
a Torana but difficult to tell). My TR6 doesn't even have a radiator shroud
either...

Could be this is reasonable behaviour on the part of the cooling system if
it's working well.
