Looking at the pictures everything appears correct except I do not see the small flaps that are normally located at about the middle of the window opening. These pull the top taunt from side to side

That would be safe in the case of gasoline and propane vapors, both of which are heavier than air and lay at floor level. On the otherhand, natural gas is lighter than air and drifts to the ceiling.
