My newly acquired '55 Cameo V8 seems to be missing a breather tube at the rear of the engine. It looks like a 1.5" diameter hole in the top of the block has a rubber doughnut in it with a .5" diamete

I believe I've seen them either with the downdraft tube, or the hole blocked off in '55....no PCV valves were used back then. My '57 had the downdraft tube on the 283. You can install one, as that's

A little note on the road draft tube. I bought an engine once and the tube was missing so I figured that I would just install another and be on my way.....Mistake!!! Seems the previous owner also too

That is the location for the road draft tube and possibly the optional PCV system. I have never actually seen in person an original V-8 pcv system, but I don't think it used a rubber grommet. Most of
