- Start with the easy stuff, first. I would check the battery ground cable - often corrosion at the battery terminal or at the attachment to the frame will cause the symptoms you have described. Corro

- Sounds to me like you're getting close to "new starter" time. I'd have it apart on the bench by now. One test you could try, just to be sure ... connect a voltmeter or DMM directly across the starte

- Thanks all for the advice and ideas. I've got a good list of things to try this weekend. My first electrical failure -- I feel so British now. :-) Makes me wish my TR4 had the hand start option! --
