Hi Group, I have new foam seats and find they are too stiff. Anyone have any recommendations as to where, how many and how deep the 1" holes should be to make the seats softer. ______________________

I did this many years ago and have very good results. I used a 1.5 to 2 inch hole saw (not sure of exact size) and drilled a 4 by 4 pattern. Not too hard, not too soft - just right! Keith Pennell __

Hi Richard, Others will answer your hole question but I'd like to make a suggestion. Once that is done you'll be constantly finding bits of foam falling down on your floor. While it won't amuse the C

Instead of a hole saw, I cut the top off a can with a hack saw (I think it was string beans). Then simply twist the can into the foam with your hand. This gives a nice clean cut without all the mess.

How deep should the holes be? Are they all the way through? If not, are they drilled from the top or the bottom? Are you talking 4 holes only? Every 4 inches on center across the seat? 4 inches apart

Been there and done that with the foam hole drilling bit. I found that my worn out crumbling 40 year old foam still felt better than the new stuff. At least my back never hurt like it does with the n

When I replaced mine was after a drive to a 700 mile Conclave on foam that "wasn't" any longer. It had collapsed to nothing. My butt hurt so bad I could hardly move when I got home. New foam and all

I fully understand as I replaced my cushions with new foam. They are very hard now so..., how far apart and how deep do the holes need to be drilled in order to soften the seats? --Original Message--

I don't think there is an exact number since everyone is different. Weight, height and comfort level are all variables. I cut my holes from the bottom of the seat maybe 2/3 up through the foam (since

Your old foam disintegrated and collapsed? You can bet your bottom dollar (pun?) that the new foam will, also. I replaced my foam a few years ago. My eyes were level with the top of the windshield th

I went about 2/3 of the way through from the bottom. Wanted to maintain integrety of the top surface. There were 16 holes which sounds like a lot and they were within maybe 1 inch of each other. But
