I got the midget started up and backed out of the garage today. Tweaked the carbs a little, still not ready for a good shake out run. Went into the garage for a screw driver and noticed a pretty good

Excessive piston blow by? I saw that on one of the engines in my Midget. A compression test should help confirm or deny that blow by theory. Is it a 1275 or a SpitFiget? -g __________________________

Oil from the dipstick always seems to mean that the engine is generating more crankcase pressure than it can get rid of. Either there is excessive blowby past the tired old rings, or else the ventin

First, make sure you have a good PCV situation. You need some evacuation of the crankcase to the intake vacuum. Without this, you will have oil coming out from all over. After, that, look at more ext

Not all Spridgets used that as the PCV. In fact, since he specifically stated that his car has the hoses between the carbs, his car did not come from the factory with #70. __________________________

The odds that PCV will solve a blowby problem big enough to blow oil out the dipstick are pretty low. Back to the original question, you probably don't need to get as far as a leak down test. The lea

I had the exact same problem on my car. If it still goes out when the crankcase vent is open and you rev-up, it's most likely worn rings, worn vales or more... I did everything I could to fix mine,
