Holy Cow. This totally kills my old college MGB. Uhm, I do wonder, though, if my first ever car, a 1299 cc AH Sprite, wasn't a bit faster. Well, at least it might have been if I drove off the top of

After a speedo cable failed, I've been using the tach for a speedo on my TR4. I figured the ratios ought to work out to: 4000 rpm in 1st is 20 mph 4000 rpm in 2nd is 40 mph 4000 rpm in 3rd is 60 mph

Advertised top speed was 105-110 mph (depending on which source). But that was with 83mm liners, and most people have installed 87s by now, giving a boost in both displacement and compression ratio.

My TR6 handbook gives engine speed @ 10 mph as 482 rpm in 4th direct. So, at 3800 rpm, it would be doing (3800 / 482) * 10 = 78.8 mph. But the TR3 had smaller tires originally than the TR6 did. The
