For safety there is really no choice here. Go for the TC wiring plus 50 watt halogen headlights. If the reflectors are not in good condition a re-silvering will make a world of difference. Ken TC 41

I agree that 50 watts per light puts a hefty strain on the electrical system. Most of my night driving is of short duration which gives the battery time to recover during the next daylight drive. Fo

RE: Power consumption and dynamo output. I read with interest the problems associated with installing halogens in T series cars. I have them in my TD. My TD is a later one with the 19 amp dynamo. Acc

My 1945-1960 Lucas parts book shows that the Lucas number for the late TD and all TF cars dynamo to be 22265A/B. Besides having a bigger output than the C39PV, the C39PV-2 generators used a longer r

This is amusing. Here we are, almost 50 years after the cars were built, puzzling over the changes to the electrical systems. As you went to the Lucas parts book, I was inspired to go to the TD Servi

The two coil regulators used on all "T" types only regulates voltage. It can not control current as does the three coil units. The voltage setting should be around 15.5VDC. That is why a bad battery

It's been great. No chirps or other signs of distress from the dynamo. An unintended side effect, sadly, has been a large reduction in the CT cat population. As they have dashed out into the road to

Bob I have converted a Delco Alternator to tach drive. It also has the correct diameter shaft to take a TC pulley, which I have made in China. There is a little work to mount it on the XPAG engine ,
