On For the vent , you should find one at a salvage yard that will work, they just press in, take a pair of pliers with you. I put one off a Ford 3/4 rearend in my '59 Chevy's axle, so I'd be betting

they Newer ones press in, but older ones have pipe threads. Bring 7/16 open wrench to remove a salvage unit. Bob ADler oletrucks is devoted to Chevy and GM trucks built between 1941 and 1959

I rebuilt my rearend in my 1950 3100, I replaced the vent with a new one I purchased at Heavy Chevy truck parts in Siloam Springs, AR. It was easier then trying to locate one that would properly fit.
