I think what Simon is referring to is sold as JB Weld in the states, if the post broke off clean I would try drilling the back of the badge ever so slightly and inserting and gluing the post in place

Good idea. And could a small partial pre-made 'back plate/pin assembly' be JB'ed into the backside of the badge. Is there relief enough to do that or could relief enough be made for such an assembly
