Go easy on the amount of black paint you put on the core. The thicker the paint the more insulation and the more insulation the poorer the heat transfer. On the red paint for the fan shroud use a or

The fan shroud was originally brush painted red. One of the few concours details that's easier done as original... (no masking). I used Red Devil semi gloss "Chinese Red" which looks correct and goes
