I've never done it before, but you can use a string to keep the tensioner compressed. Get the cover on and just let go of the string and pull it out of the cover. Dave |\ | | | Dave Chu \/ \/ | /| |

Funny, I remember how I did this the first time 20 years ago, but I don't remember how I did it just this past spring. (Am I getting THAT old? Don't answer!) Basically, I seem to recall a bit of luck

Andrew and lists, I have the answer for the timing chain dilemma.... some form of external tensionning must be done - ie holding it fully compressed while fitting the cover over the nose of the crank

Theres a trick to it, that does not envolve fingures bits of wire or anything like that. Tension the timing chain, take the cover in your right hand and hold it vertical, lift the tensioner with left
