It works ALL the time in the current vehicle. The only time it has failed is if the engine/tranny is hot and it is hot outside. It it is winter time cold or even cool outside it has never not engaged

Oh, thanks for the correction. I misinterpreted your previous explanation. How about this for a wacky theory? The lockout switch is currently adjusted so that it is barely engaged in the 3rd/4th posi

Not exactly, just a extrapolation from having the switch misadjusted. But I notice CR came up with the same theory, so maybe it's not so wacky... -- Max Heim '66 MGB GHN3L76149 If you're near Mountai

Max's theory does work. We've had several instances where the switch needed to be moved closer by removing a washer, in order for it to function correctly. We've also encountered switches which teste

So I have never had this thing apart. I had it rebuilt at a shop. I am running the older newer OD (LH?) that was in the '70B. The OD works in 3rd and 4th, but the switch is on the column. Where is th

The lockout switch is on the left side of the tranny, at the top, near the base of the shifter extension (basically, where the transverse 3rd/4th selector rod can hit it). Sort of a mirror image posi

It shouldn't do any (more) damage in 1st and 2nd, but it will destroy the one-way clutch in the overdrive if you attempt to drive in reverse with the overdrive engaged. Lawrie British Sportscar Cente

It would be bad for it. I would think you would want to avoid using anything other than 3rd and 4th with OD. From what I have read, putting it in reverse with the OD in will shred your OD. It is not
