Can someone check 86.35.15, Ignition timing adjust, paragraph 14-17. It says to take off the retard vacuum line, then check that timing at idle speed (800) is per the specs on 86.35.00. The spec says

It's not. The instructions in the manual were written for non-emission cars, ie without vacuum retard. You need to have the retard connected and operating (not disabled by the TVS if present) while

Thanks Randall, The reason I questioned the accuracy is because it did specifically mention disconnecting the retard unit and all US market distributors had one. So, since my vacuum retard isn't work

You should be able to get it lower than that, although probably not all the way down to 800. You might ask at your local full-line auto parts house (independent or NAPA, etc.). Mine was able to send
