Hello list, I did a search in the archives but didn't come up with quite the info I'm looking for. I have Michelin XZX's that are probably 20 years old, on my BJ8, they're tubeless and hold air well

There is a summary of Healey tire info at: http://iai.eivd.ch/profs/fwi/cars/tech_talk/wheels_tires.htm I ended up buying some Kumho 771 165/15's for about $30 ea. and the ride is very good but I do

So much for my assessment:) Where in the world did you find $30 tires? I just had to buy a spare for my E-Type which has185/15 size, and the closest I could get was a 165/15 (this was to last me till

To start off you will never find a tire that will work on the Healey for $30-40. The only stuff you will find in the price range I would not even use on any car. We have been installing 195 70 15 Vre

Believe it or not, through my local Goodyear tire store. Last August someone said Kumho had discontinued the 771. I sent an email to their customer support and received the following reply: -- We do

Word to the wise. Do not, ever, buy any sort of off brand or no name tire just to make your price range of $40 per tire. On all healeys, if the tire tread delaminates or the belts strip loose from t

Good tires are, of course, a better choice, but in the size we're talking about, there is no reason for them to cost much more than the 35.00 or so that a kuhmo or other mid grade tire will cost. The

I just wanted to comment on what Al said--when in Europe several years ago, one of our Healey group had several tires come apart on his Healey. The right rear one beat the crap out of the fender! The

Good that you brought that up. Wearability and durability are tested and the tires are rated for such. Wearability has very little to do with how well a tire will perform and when it does it's in a r

You point about high performance tires is right on the money. There's more stuff to worry about, in fact. I used to run high performance Falken 205/60s on my BJ8 in the 80's before I knew better. Th

All of this tire talk made me finally check what I had, because I have been very satisfied with them, and they look as close to "right" as a radial can... They are Michelin Radial X ZX 175 R 15s. The
