Rubbish!!!!! 80W/90 gear oil is in fact thinner (less viscous) than 20W/50 engine oils. Don't be fooled by the numbers, gear oils follow a different index. If you don't believe me I will send you th

OK, guys, a gentlemanly challenge from Oz. Fact: All standard (factory) reference manuals state unambiguously that the recommended lube for an MG tranny (TD, TF, A, B) is 30 weight motor oil. Fact: A

I hate to get started on this "what weight oil to use in the gearbox" controversy, but my owners manual (73 MGB with OD) says to use 20W50. Can anyone really, truely, unequivically, get to to bottom

I'm aware of the differences of opinion on the net regarding this (how could I not?). Well recognized lbc specialists such as John Twist insist upon avoiding 80/90W. Some experienced owners, such as

Yes. This is one of those issues, like silicone brake fluid vs. DOT4, and paint X vs. paint Y, which you have to decide yourself. For the record, my MGB transmission has 20W-50 and 150,000 miles, an
