"Quite a lot of grim in the engine bay...." I don't think it looks that grim in there at all, James? Mayhap you shall acquire the carbon-fibre reinforced radiator hoses....only $200,000 for a set at
Just run a tap into the bushing. When the tap bottoms out, keep turning it, and it'll push the bushing out of the crankshaft. You're on your own, as far as what size tap to use. It's been several yea

Make sure you measure the pilot bushing before buying anything. There were two different OD s for the 1275 pilot bushing and the only reliable way of knowing which one you need is to measure it. I se

Yes, but the simplest way is to take a wooden dowel that just fits inside the pilot bushing, pack the opening with grease, and hammer the dowel into the grease. The bushing gets pushed out by the hyd
One could use a clutch alignment tool. I usually use a dowel, because the idea of hitting a fairly expensive, often plastic, alignment tool with a mallet just makes me queasy. Chris K.
If the tap or simple hydraulics doesn't work for you, and it is a bushing not a bearing, crack it with a chisel and it comes out in pieces. I know one of my 1/4" drive deep sockets works as a dowel,
My dad's old trick... You get a rod or punch that fits reasonably tightly in the bushing, fill the hole in the bushing with heavy grease, start the end of the punch in the hole, then hit the end of t
Everyone's "punch it" method is better than mine - I drill it out slightly and it just falls out. But the punch method has much more margin for error. I have to do this very soon, and will use the pu
