Yes, most often the stock fuel pump has too much pressure. An inexpensive "test" is to use some small vice grips and partially squeeze the line. Get thee a pressure regulator. About 30 bucks at Napa

My 1500 mechanical puts out about 4.5-5 lbs. I had to put an inline regulator on it to drop it down to about 3. Before the regulator, the pump would overflow my dual HS4's something fierce. Dan Dan D

Actually Bob, the pump isn't right next to the carbs. The carbs on a 1500 are on the RHS of the engine and the fuel pump is on the lower LHS to the rear of the engine. Either way, the mech. pumps ten
