I changed the head light switch on my 69 MGC Roadster today and discovered the original had 4 wires attached to it, 1- red 2- blue 3- brown 4- purple. The problem is the replacement switch only has

Don't have any MGC diagrams but I can't imagine what the purple would be for there, sounds like a PO addition. Does it come out of the loom or is it loose? If loose where does it go? Purple on the MG

Well according to the Lucas wiring code, red is for side and tail lights (middle position), blue is for headlights (full on position). Brown is unfused 12V, and purple is fused 12V. Therefore, if on

Original switch has 4 posts 1-red 2-blue 3-brown 4-purple. The purple appears to be interior lights. I'm trying to determine if I need to find an NOS switch or can I put the purple with the blue or

Someone has been mucking about and hooked up the purple wire to the wrong switch. I'll lay a bet that your brake warning light test switch doesn't work because it doesn't have a purple wire connecte

Hmm, no one has mentioned this, but I thought the 69 switch is a one-year-only part that includes the horn (hence the purple wire). I think I may have one in a box of parts that a friend dropped off

Checked a diagram I got from Prospero's Garage, it's a good size color laminated job. Anyway it's specifically for the 69 C and it shows 4 connections on the headlight switch. Post 1 is blue, posts
