With all new stuff, it sure can't hurt to retighten the bearing nuts. Same bearings on wire or steel wheel cars. Same from 58 thru 79. I never used them on a Sprite but I used to eat em up on the Min

Don't you have to torque them, then run them to "seat them in", then torque them again? Seems like I remember that from somewhere. I put new bearings on my son's Bronco II and he ran it for some time
