I have a 79 Spitfire with a Crane electronic ingition. I would like some advice regarding replacing ( upgrading) the coil. Should I get a Crane coil? They offer 3, again which one ? Should I consider

Hans, I don't think any of the Spitfires had external ballasts. Therefore, If I'm correct, you need to look for an internally basslated coil. Otherwise, you will have to rewire the Crain Ignition sys

I'm not sure for how long,but the later spits used a resistor wire and a 6 volt coil. The resistor wire was bypassed during crankover to give hotter spark/quick start. If you change to a Lucas Sport

Bob, You (of course) are correct. I keep forgetting that the '75 Spit I parted out is different from most 1500 North American cars. It has a Delco Distributor (no ballast wire) and a Mechanical Tach.
