George---The sound an engine makes with no air filters on can sure make
it feel like it's heathier. It would have been easy enough for the
Triumph engineers to cut more holes in the canister that houses the
filters. They didn't, so I have to assume that they dyno'ed the engine
and figured that it flowed enough air for the stock engine. However, if
you want to cut a couple more holes in the bottom side, it couldn't hurt
anything, and won't be visible.

The K&N will pay for itself, if you keep the car long enough. Mine's
been on since 1985, and "recharged" twice, using their kit. Again, don't
look for any measureable performance gains, unless other areas have been
modified and need more air.
