Peter,
I too "wrestled" with the "correct" placement of the "TR6" insignia, on
the rear panel. It had been a long time between removal, and application
after new paint, (20 some years).
So many of the examples that I examined, did not have the "look"
(placement) that I remembered ( and grew partial to).
The relationship of "lettering" to the "lamp", at least in my opinion, is
an important part of the "look" on the rear panel. And as I mentioned,
most of that opinion was founded in how my "72 appeared when the original
insignia was still in place.
I found a picture, somewhere on the web, that to me had the correct
"placement".
I am including the photo. If anyone else is interested in the photo,
e-mail me, and I will be glad to send it. If anyone knows where it came
from, please let me know, and I will be glad to give credit to the
source.

As the "pic" is not exact measurements, close works well here. It is
easier to position the drivers side first, as the "6" is the same width
(top to bottom), and this makes positioning easier.
The centerline of the letters and the lamp are the same, with the "6"
spaced one letter width (in this case the "6") from the leading edge of
the chrome lamp housing, and parallel with the top and bottom of the
housing.
Once the drivers side is done you can measure to the "center point" of
the "6", and place the "center point" of the "T" at the same distance for
the Passenger side.

This is not a placement that I have found in any documentation on the
car, merely my personal observations ( and taste). In the end, you need
to like how it looks on your ride.

Hope that is helpful,

Mark Riddle
