There is supposed to be some movement of the weights before the springs
take up the slack.

I took my distributor apart tonight and the bushing seem fine. I think
the problem is the springs. They seem to be too loose. I can adjust
the timing slightly without the springs stretching at all. Am I correct
to think they should be tight?
