John, you put forth several good options.  Only thing I can add is more of a 
question.  Isn't shipping a moot point? i.e. You will pay shipping regardless 
of option with the exception of having your current wheels done locally.  
Something that most of us just don't have available to us.  I would also add 
that 
Allen Hendirix at Hendrix Wire Wheels is another excellent source for wheel 
work.
