Hi John

Your existing ring-gear is on the right way...for a TR6. The ring gear is the 
same one as used in TR4's. The thing with the 4, is that the starter engages 
from the BACK of the ring gear. When installing this ring gear on a 6, ya need 
to have the entry bevel on the teeth face the starter pinion...which means the 
ring gear has to go on the other way, which means the entry bevel on the ring 
gear faces backwards, where it does no good at all. This makes the ring gear a 
little more difficult to install, but that's what has to happen. If you've got 
it in your hands now, REPACE IT! And, replace the starter pinion as well so 
you're not putting old teeth against new.
