What about our old friend the gearbox/engine alignment ?. Was this thing
put back together using the dowels or just bolts ?
Remember in Nelsons article on this topic he said:
"Important! Prior to installation make sure the two dowels between the
engine plate and the gearbox are present. Missing dowels can cause
rough jerky clutch operation as the release bearing is not centric to
the clutch"
So this would also be an easy thing to check before pulling it all apart
or whacking holes in the bellhousing.
