Those metal bits are for GT doors. The ST door panels fit WITHIN the
indentation in the door itself. On the GT, the door panels go out to the
edges of the door. They did that by attaching these metal strips all the
way around the edges.
I had a beautiful set one. Got them all prepped and sent to Martha to
remake my panels. She LOST them! So, maybe Paul you are running around
with one of mine. You probably can't see them, but I had painted them a
neat orange color. I ended up not wanting GT doors anyway. But, I was
still bummed she lost them. Use them in good health.
