I don't have a dog in a fight about the internal workings of an organization
of which I am not currently a member. And although I have been a worker and
an official in club racing in the past, I have never held a club racing
driver license. I'm mostly interested in autocrossing, and am most affected
by the minimal presence of the SCCA in the local autocrossing scene. End
disclaimer.
There are some intangibles to pro racing. Site availability for club racing
may be part. The road-racing tracks largely exist as commercial
establishments. They may have more reason to exist if there are pro races.
Then again, there are tracks which don't stage pro-racing events. BIR has
largely gone to drag racing, and perhaps one motorcycle race a year.
Just something for folks more involved to consider.
