Sort of a relative value. To some, it's worth it to be the first around
with a new type of car, and that would be more worthwhile on a car that
is imported in fewer numbers than the Miata or Beetle. When I bought my
MR2, it was new to the USA, and most dealers had waiting lists and
wanted premiums also. I ended up being glad to pay MSRP on it, but the
car also drew crowds to it and got a lot of comments. To some people
(not me), that is worth $10k.

I think that will be difficult. My brother-in-law is sales manager at a
very large Honda dealer here. He told me (when I was asking about
getting one) that I should forget it. That there will be no S2000 sold
unless you are on a waiting list and willing to pay a very high premium.
At those prices I think I would look at a Boxster.

If indeed there are only 5000 imported this model year, I am not so sure
you will find the used S2000 dropping under $30k. Unless they announce
more availability for 2001 and some improvements.

I still would worry about the high rpms required on this car (and lack
of low end torqe), and where it is classed (SS?).
