Those very few are quite enough to make a major hassle at a large event. I
worked T&S with Mark during 2nd heat on thurs/fri. and had the pleasure of
dealing with several of the cars that Mark listed. The smooth flow of the
event that you praised later in the message is easily disrupted my SMALL
things like unreadable numbers, people insisting on taking to the time to
refer to DS as Dodge Stock when calling in cones, etc. I'm on the board of
a local smaller autox club, and bad numbers (you know...local stuff like
shoe polish on windows) makes T&S a huge PITA when not done in a clear
manner. And that in turn means that when i audit the results it's that much
harder to decipher what happened. Now, in my position locally, i audit the
results the day or two after the event. At Nationals results are audited
and finalized save protests inside of 15 minutes after the run group.
That's amazing if you think about it and it's only possible with the clear
numbers required by the rules. Imagine Nationals with a dual driver car,
numbers for both drivers shoe polished on the side windows with the windows
rolled down....how many days would it take to complete 900+ competitors then :)

Regarding the 'blanket statement' mark made earlier about silver/white
number car combo that upset someone...Unfortunately it's not a 'blanket
statement. It's a fact. white and silver don't contrast. If your folks
saved any of your earlier school work, ask them to pull it out, I bet you
have an art project from back then where they taught what contrasting
colors are ;) <PC>not intended to offend anyone here that's color blind to
any degree =)</PC>

The #3 car in DM had

I dunno if the car i saw was in DM, but i saw one car this weekend with
what i assumed was a 3 on it that looked like the worlds largest seagull
had taken a dump ont he side of the car. the right side of the 3 was
huge...like 3 inches wide, with little tiny arms sticking out to the left
and little nubs o the other side. That was NOT readable from a distance.
however...the colors DID contrast ;)
