Ah yes! Craig...like that big banana slice when you go for those extra 10-20
yards. Maybe we should
learn to a focused but intuitive 'let it happen' attack as Tiger Woods....his
back nine performance
yesterday was one of the true great moments in sports history.

But my ideas on mine and Craig's exasperating problem.

#1. Make sure the front/back tire pressure balance remains the same (i.e. one
end may heat up
more!). If not the car may be just a little different each run when you're
trying to push beyond
that 9 tenths for that great run. (CHecking tire pressures during runs is
controversial, some do,
some never do).

#2. Another idea that sometimes works is to try and analyze after each run
where I was faster,
where I was slower. A sloppy corner entrance or taking too wide a line or not
getting on the power
soon enough can cost .2 to .5 seconds and more at EACH occurrence.

#3. A newer idea is that as the runs progress, from the announcer or posted
times we learn what
others are doing in our class. This can be a distraction, and may or may not
motivate.

#4. Finally, I've been wondering if I get prepared for earlier runs as well
as later. It's fun
to talk and compare, but for later runs am I in my car, strapped in ready to go
minutes before the
line moves? Maybe...maybe not.
