of course, all this supposes the demographic for autocrossers is
uniformly distributed among the population of the US (and it very well
may be). howver, a more accurate way to identify the centroid for
autocrossers would be to use SCCA membership data rather than Census
Bureau data. And even doing that there is error introduced from the fact
that not all SCCA members are soloists, but one could argue that dataset
is more representative than the general population. If someone wanted to
split the hairs more fine, you could start with  the SCCA member
information, dissect that into the ones that indicated primary interest
in solo on their membership apps, apply an error margin for those that
solo as a secondary interest but do attend Nationals and plot that data
to find the centroid. 
I would be surprised if it was very close to the Census population
centroid, but that's just my opinion not really based on any hard data.
