This is easy to solve:

Go to the results for Heats one and two find the cars that got slower,
then ask those drivers if the announcement effected them.

As someone grided when he was announcing didn't have a problem with it.

Matt,

As I am sure you have already guessed, I am in disagreement regarding
the announcement. Please understand that I am not angry with you, I
assumed your intentions were honorable, just misguided.

<<I felt I should mention a few things here. I was the one who made the
announcement during the first heat on the North Course, not Mr. Sipe. He
had just been informed about :30 seconds prior to my announcement. I had
been told about it earlier, at around 9 AM. I went to my car and started
listening to NPR. Once I had some real details, I felt that "we" should
know and went to make the announcement.>>

The point I disagree with most is the last item above. If there are
conflicting reports on different news outlets, how could you know what
is
accurate? Most importantly, it appears that you took it upon yourself
to
decide that the announcement should be made and without regard for the
timing and what effect it would have. Given the gravity of the
announcement, it was apparent that it would have a detrimental effect on
all of those who were yet to make their final run. This is a member
run event, but given the situation I would have thought that someone
(Howard or Tasha
perhaps) would have been consulted first.

<<I did contemplate waiting, but the rumors were starting to fly about,
and I thought it best to get some accurate information out. This has
something to do with the Forth Estate, etc., >>

I am sorry, but I don't see the connection here. Information for the
sake of information is of no value. Whether I was informed 15 minutes
later would have been of no consequence. Would anyone have been hurt by
waiting until after the heat was finished to make the announcement? Of
course not. I later learned that many people in the grid area, who were
not driving that heat, refrained from saying anything to me about it
specifically so as to not affect my performance.

Perhaps my opinion is tainted by what happened to me, but I suspect that
I would think much the same had I not been so effected. Yes I was
frustrated by what happened. The situation was unfortunate; first being
robbed of a third run, then robbed of a second day and the chance to try
and recover. It left me with a very bitter feeling on top of the WTC
tragedy. I am sure I was not very good company for the next several
days. To those I annoyed the crap out of during that time, I apologize.

To be sure, I am not angry with you or anybody else. It is unfortunate
that it happened the way it did. What's done is done and I can't change
it now.
