I've personally experienced both of these dilemmas and offer my
simple advice (FWIW).
Advice to James: wear a warm sweater under a leather jacket and a
scarf
Advice to Scot: don't worry there's no rain forecast for the
weekend
I'd love join you guys as I enjoy driving all over the bay area
with no roll up windows and no roof. Indeed, I'd even take you up
on your co-drive offer James, but I have other engagements on
Sunday. Some other time perhaps.

BTW, I believe James is not qualified for the short haired club.
