P.S.

You may be in luck:

NHTSA ITEM # SB601071, DATE: 4/98

TRANSMISSION DIFFICULT TO SHIFT OR WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. *YC

I also saw a few others that might pertain. You can call NHTSA @ 1 888 327
4236 for more info.

Good advice.

In addition, you should check the NHTSA database of Technical Service
Bulletins on-line. If there is a TSB for this problem -- even if it was not a
recall -- it gives you the informational ammunition you need:

Don, i believe it is the responsibility of the manufacturer to prove that
your aftermarket part caused the problem. So in this case you do have a
chance in court.

There is no way a short shifter can brake anything in the transmission. It
is like saying that if you shift by pushing the lever bellow the shift knob
will cause a problem.

On the other hand, change the shifter back stock and take it to a different
dealer :)
