We went through the same problem last year (#301) and after screwing
around with it here in Baltimore (with minimal success), we finally made
the trip to Terry Tanner in Bedford, Va. The good news is he got both
windows in and working (apparently the regulator gets slightly bent out of
shape due to excess transverse forces), the bad news is a few weeks later
they both died again (one fell out, the other simply wouldn't move
right). Since Sept 97 or so both windows have been non-functional. The
*real* problem appears to be that any slight deformation of the doors will
cause the window(s) to bind, and nothing short of a door restoration (add
reinforcements, etc. - about $800 per door at Terry's shop) can really
totally remedy the problem.

Call Terry (or his employee Larry). They're always willing to talk about
the problems, although as far as the bent regulator goes (Terry installs a
reinforcement bar on the regulator after bending them back into "proper"
shape) nothing short of physically looking at it and knowing what is
the 'correct' shape is worthwhile.
