Let me explain so that you don't make any problems -- there are enough of
them already! There are two ways to weld that channel, on top of the
"roller" channel or as the factory did, along side it. I took my roller
channels and the new u channels to a local shop and had them welded on top
because I figured it would decrease the angle that the window went through
and since I am 6"1" and still can't rest my arm on the window when driving I
figured that the extra vertical inch that it made the window be up in the
down position didn't mean anything. By the way, even after all this thought,
when I took my car for work by a Bricklin mechanic, he took it upon himself
to rip out my newly installed passenger channel and reweld whatever he put
in there (I haven't taken that apart since getting the car back but it is
good material for a post or an article). Anyway, the factory channels are
fairly deep and do require glue -- the ones that Tanner sells are available
at any glass shop (I found this out after I had mine welded and I went to
the glass shop and they were lying all around). Never weld anything after
the glass is in -- you run the real risk of shattering the glass, especially
tempered glass).

One last thing, those damn windows, next to the doors, are the things to
have working right, especially here in San Francisco. When I bought both of
the cars that I have had and tried to go over the Bay Bridge from a night at
my girl friends house, the biggest hassle was trying to clamp the toll on
the outside of the window when it wouldn't go down and the door wouldn't
open (this was only the first week that I owned each of the cars). God, I'll
never forget 5:00 in the morning going to work and jamming that damn door up
to give the guy the toll. If you have any questions about the windows or the
doors, I have been there and done that (that is what is especially
distressing about the "job" that the Bricklin mechanic did). Kim
