I haven't seen any studies on it, but I've also heard to stay away
from Armor All. Rumor has it that Armor All has alcohol in it which
can cause your plastic/rubber/etc to dry and crack worse than if you
hadn't used it at all. I've heard that if you continually re-apply it,
that you'll be OK, but if you don't, watch out!

A local parts store recommended a product called '303'. I've been
meaning to try a little experiment. I want to take a piece of
scrap plastic/vinyl/rubber and apply Armor All to 1/3 and 303 to 1/3
and leave 1/3 alone. Put it up on the roof of my house and let it
sit for a few weeks or months and see what happens.

Supposedly, 303 doesn't have alcohol in it, therefore, it won't harm
your dash (marketing hype?).

I guess that the safest cure is to keep your dash covered with one of
those carpet covers. I got mine from a local company (Dashy) for ~ $20.

                   Good Luck...
