You may recall my posting regarding reception of a disappointingly
below-standard cast aluminum valve cover for my Spitfire from
The Roadster Factory. In the course of talking with one of
their experienced phonespersons (not the 800-line) I summarized
to him my observations regarding its imperfections. He said that
they knew the covers were not that great and had received numerous
complaints; he would gladly refund my money.
He also said that they were all that was available,
and that they'll keep selling them (Bill Sohl please take note).

In leafing through their catalog, I noticed that they also carry
"QuikTrip" headers. Don't buy these; I have seen them. They
are chrome-plated junk. One of them that I saw had a broken-off
piece of welding rod protruding from the port face flange into the
exhaust runner.

I have been a Roadster Factory customer since 1981, and appreciate their
expertise and willingness to please. In the olden days, they would not
sell anything that did not appear in the factory parts catalog. This stuff
was often not that great, either. I infer that their policy shift was
the result of market research, as I have received questionnaires through
the years that have asked my opinion on various matters. Let's hope that
market research does not do to them what it did to broadcast television.

P.S. I have stopped receiving BritCar mail. Has something been changed?
