Hit the Sus with a small hammer??? I used what I had, a lead knock off hammer
on my front carb.... Tought it a thing or two yes sireee

On the MGB & carb note,

Last spring the MGB lost compression in the number 2 cylinder. Since the
TR3 is waiting for the other cars to get back on line before reassembly, and
the Land Rovers engine was getting replaced after 250K+ miles in my hands,
I pulled the #2 spark plug wire & joined a van pool.

After the Land ROver got back on the road, I pulled the head on the BGT & found
a burnt exhaust valve. I had a machine shop put in all new exhaust valves,
bronse guides & new hardened seats, both intake and exhaust.

As luck would have it, work made it possible to do some globe hopping and I
spent 5 of 8 weekends away from home. Last weekend when I finally had some
time at home, I was going to reassemble the intake. I couldn't help but
notice that the carb shafts had a LOT of side to side wobble.

It didn't take long to decide that this is probably why the BGT idled like a
bad actor in a death scene, and the car never has passed SMOG at idle.

I did some calling around and:
Apple Hydrolics wants $375 to rebuild a pair of SUs
Roadster Factory is $329 minus 15% until the end of the month
Moss wants $325 for the pair
Victoria British wants $349 for a pair of generic new SUs.

I have decided to go for the $280 Roadster Factory AUD 265 SUs.

I have given up trying to get the seals in place on the front brake calapers
and will probably pay the $79.95 Victoria British wants on a rebuilt calaper.
Though I HATE spending $159.90 because I can not get one of the seals to fit
correctly.

Now if I can just stay home long enough

BUT WAIT there's the Monterey Historics this weekend. Cann't stay home to
work on the BGT then. And next weekend, I need to check fluids & tighten the
steering box adjustment on the Land Rover to get it ready for the trip to
Portland. And the following weekend there is the Portland All British meet
that I'm planning to take the Land Rover to. Then the following weekend is the
Palo Alto All British Meet. Triumphfest in Sacramento is coming up soon too.
ACK! Well I may get time to reassemble the BGT between Palo ALto and Sacramento
The poor TR! If only I had a garage! If only I had a full time British car
machanic
on my personal staff! ACK!
