Some of the older cars have left-tightening lugs on one side (driver side I
think).  My '48 Dodge has them.  Not that I ever torque them down.  I
tighten them until I can't tighten anymore.  In fact, I don't think my
clicking torque wrench works to the left...

I've heard it said many times that you should NEVER use a tourque wrench to
loosen anything. If that is true then why does my tourque wrench have a
reversible ratchet? Surely there can't be that many backwards threaded nuts
and bolts out there.
