Well I finally got a set of new 15" Panasports for the '67 stroker. There's
one issue, actually it's a problem.
The wheel studs seem too short. The tapered nuts that came with them will
only go 6 full turns from barely on to full tight. 4 turns on a couple other
studs. At 20 threads (meaning turns) per inch for 7/16 - 20 studs, this means
less than 1/4" to less than 3/8" of bite. I'm sure that's not enough to be
safe. After measuring wheel flange thickness and nut thread lengths, I'm
thinking I need at least 1/2" to 3/4" longer studs but not long enough to
bottom out on the nuts. I have checked the forum and list archives, looking
for a specific replacement, length, brand, or source. When I broke a stud a
few years ago, I bought some of the Corvair studs mentioned on the interchange
list. They would have probably worked but I thought the knurling looked rather
knarley so I just got some from Nissan. And they were the stock ones.... too
short.

Anyone else experience this problem with stock studs and Panasports? Any
help?
