Now your thinking Mordy! I'd be much more interested in an "explosion
proof" tunnel. It would not hold heat, would not interfere with access to
the O/D, and would not soak up oil. Three big issues with the blanket.

Let me know what your carbon fiber buddy thinks
Dave

This thread has got me thinking too much..

Bill's recollection of fiberglasss....I have a good buddy who makes carbon
fiber parts..for all sorts of applications but mostly, racing type vehicles.
I could ask him if a new Tunnel with a thicker or ballistic material would
meet our purposes?...any thoughts on this...

the Deist unit is SFI certified and is a complete wrap that has straps that
bolt it to the front of the Bell housing.
It is about an inch thick with many layers of material...I think it weighs
nearly ten pounds. It will soak up oil I suspect and get pretty grimy. It
will heat insulate the gearbox.

if we don't want the SFI cert I think we could get it cheaper.

Vintage clubs don't have a policy on this sort of safety device...as far as
I know.
