Mines just a regular 1/2 tome, and it's not all that wimpy, I just like the
idea of a new frame--silly though it might be. Now that I think about it,
silly is a prerequisite for most of my projects.

There's nothing wrong with the frame on my '49, except it's wimpy. I can get
a roller from Fat Man for about $5k (probably $7K by the time I get done
with extras) and then figure out the right mounts for a diesel. Or better
yet, find just the right Diesel P/U to rebody with the shell from the '49.

My Chevy Panel truck is a 1950 full ONE TON with its own 138" chassis.
Nothing whimpy about that. Looks like a five yard dump truck underneath.
That's the good news. The bad news is that driving and towing with the
antique front suspension would scare Evil Kineval. My truck is all original
except for electric wipers, a higher rear end ratio, and the 292 straight
six engine. While it's been in eight states since I restored it, my love
for creature comforts has me using it for the shorter hauls only. We had it
up at ROAD AMERICA week end before last, and it gets more attention than our
race cars. I like your AIRSTREAM idea.
