I had a Detroit Locker in one diff, and welded in another. Both worked GRE=

Back to broken diffs. At the suggestion of Bob Tullius, I welded up the sp=
ider gears in the diff of my TR-4A IRS. I raced with this setup, using all=
of the available gear ratios, for 24 years, and never had a driveline fail=
ure, including driveshaft, half shafts and differential. I used Corvair st=
ub axles (also per Tullius), and with these, I never had a stub axle failur=
e. I always felt the welded up rear end was easier on the drive train than=
the various LSD's available at that time (Detroit Locker was the most popu=
lar).

Just relaying my experience.

Hi Bob,

i am pretty sure that Tran X is the same as a Salisbury LSD and is still av=
ailable through TR Enterprises here in the UK.

I do not know what car you are using (TR4 i think) so a new Tran X is proba=
bly ok. I have 2 Salisbury LSD units in 2 axles for my TR4.

However, if you are running a TR6 then I would recommend a Gripper LSD as t=
hey can handle the extra power and need a lot less maintenance than the Sal=
isbury (I swapped out and sold both my Salisbury LSDs for 2 new Grippers fo=
r my TR6).

www.gripperlsd.com

Of interest my TR4 produces 194 bhp at the flywheel and my TR6 produces 252=
 bhp at the flywheel.

Hope that helps,

Keith
