Dear Mr. Martin,
As the owner of two Austin Healey 100s I am astounded to hear that you have
never heard anyone call their early Austin Healey a "Healey 100".
The Healey 100 was originally so named in deference to its top speed of just
over 100 M.P.H. and, after the Austin Motor Company agreed to take over
production, the name was changed to Austin Healey 100.
The term 100/4 was used by "knowledgeable folk" after the introduction of
the 100/6 in 1956 and its use has continued to this day and is very useful
for helping those who really know Austin Healeys to identify those who do
not.
